it's so sad they wrote Jonah Magnus and then did nothing with him a whole season. a whole season that could have been dedicated to the exploration of the similarities and differences between him and Jon and the difference in the choices they make and the way they treat people. but nooooo. listen to jm*rt playing "i spy" instead :/

He is so central to now two series that his name echoes through the multiverse and there was never an Eye avatar like him before (or really since, as Jon the Archive I feel is a lot different by that point), and he hung suspended in the pupil of the eye...and then just nothing. I don't /get/ it.

actually yes! even the sequel show is called *Magnus* Protocol and yet the titular Magnus is barely there?? they did research the Institute in s1 but nothing about the founder or the last Institute head, just the Institute. and I imagine it's the same in s2? especially with Sam in the parallel universe

@kairos-polaris Nothing really direct!! Now, I have my suspicions about a certain computer program but nothing i'd call concrete or canon sigh. The first act of s2 is done, I think there are two more acts in s2 and then a third season so there's still time, but that doesn't do anything about tma s5 or how criminally underutilized he was. sigh sigh sigh.

@helloarchivist it's just so baffling to me, to completely abandon your antagonist like that. mag 92 is such an outlier when it comes to Jon's and Jonah's relationship because they don't really get to talk like that after it. the closest to is Jon admitting the Panopticon is beautiful but he then runs off to save martin immediately after so. Jonah is the antagonist yet there is so little of him to the point of the plot twist essentially humiliating him and treating him like an idiot who fell for the Web's plan. so much could have been and they did nothing 😭 but no we really needed to hear jmart okay i spy instead of having the main antagonist develop or learn more about his backstory

@kairos-polaris Like he's literally in text the "beating heart of the Institute" everything that HAPPENS in the story is just the most recent parts of /Jonah's/ story. And I get the stupid "the Eye sees all and understands nothing" thing they were going for but Jonah understood like. Everything. He wouldn't have been duped like that, he knew what the tapes were and what Annabelle was vaguely up to from the start?? They have their moment together before Jon runs off into the Lonely and then its like. What if we never hear from him again until it's almost time to kill him. What if instead jmart contrivances. bleh

As for your question—no, I don't have that divide when it comes to characters I like. The opposite, if anything. Porn is one of my favourite fanfic subcategories, but I'm also extremely (and ever-increasingly) picky about it. I love iddy porn, but I want iddy porn that feels like the actual characters, not OCs that happen to be called Itadori Yuuji or Gojou Satoru.

When it comes to JJK, the housewife Yuuji bullshit is an instant block from me because not only is Yuuji mischaracterization is my #1 pet peeve in this fandom, but I'm also thoroughly uninterested in bottom!Yuuji in any form—and wife Yuuji is always also bottom Yuuji. But my search for top Yuuji has also led me to a few cases where Sukuna started crying when a dick touched him or being an omega turned Gojou's spine into paper mache, and those also just piss me off. Very much a case of "people can write whatever they want, but I will bribe god not to have to see any of this with my abused eyeballs."

This is also why I don't look at fandoms I'm familiar with when I'm in the hunting for wank material. The last thing I need is "they would not fucking say that" getting in the way of my orgasms. Thankfully, this is made easy by the fact that I mostly favor hentai/3D or live action het porn anyway—no real risk of overlap there.
